Juliana Wins Artiste of the Year 2008 PAM Award

Juliana Kanyomozi - Artiste of the Year 2008 In keeping with the preference of ugandavideos.com users, Juliana Kanyomozi beat Bebe Cool, Bobi Wine and Geoffrey Lutaaya to claim the Artiste of the Year 2008 Pearl of Africa Music (PAM) Award. In an earlier informal poll conducted on ugandavideos.com, Juliana had emerged as the clear favourite. It was the first time the top award went to a female singer. Previous winners of the Artiste of the Year Award are Jose Chameleone (2003 and 2004), Mesach Semakula (2005), Bobi Wine (2006), and Ronald Mayinja (2007). Juliana also won R&B Artiste and Female Artiste of the Year. Other big winner were Mozey Radio and Weasle for Best New Artiste, Song of the Year (Nakudata) and Best Afrobeat Single (Zuena). Former street kid Wilson Bugembe scooped Gospel Artiste of the Year as well as Best Gospel Single for Komawo Eka. Bebe Cool won Best Male, Reggae and Ragga Artiste while Bobi Wine won Best Afrobeat Artiste. Grace Nakimera won the Video of the Year title for Anfuukula. The Awards ceremony was held at Shimoni grounds in Kampala on Saturday, November 1. Below are the winners (highlighted) of the Pearl of Africa Music Awards 2008 in the various categories. It seems his music is too good to be gauged under Uganda's ratings. I am too serious on this because even after his 'yooyo' hit, nobody could recognise him. While Juliana started out doing R&B, she abandoned it. You can't classify any of her new songs as R&B. Michael Ross is an R&B singer, though even he, he is experimenting with other genres (Yooyo gravitates towards zouk). That Ross doesnt even get a nod is almost sickening..How can an artist win in two Categories..Mbu Bebe cool wins Ragga and Reggae...
